The visit from Portia Woodman
06/08/18

It  was A cold muggy Thursday morning when A women's rugby
sevens player visited Tautoro school, her name was Portia Woodman
the top try scorer in the world, we powhiri’d her, her mum and her
sister into our school, she explained her life story and all the joy she
had in traveling around the world.

Also Portia said, out of all the games she has ever played, her
favourite game was when they beat australia, only because they beat
australia  in their own country. Originally from Northland, Woodman
moved to Auckland with her family in 1997 when her Dad, an
All Black, completed his teaching degree. But she has learnt a thing
or two off him, judging by her sidestep which was a tournament
highlight.

Woodman comes from a sporting background with both her father,
and her uncle being former All Blacks. Her aunt also is a former
Silver Fern. Of Maori descent, Woodman affiliates to the Ngapuhi iwi.

Therefore you've heard Portia Woodman’s life story and why she
decided to become an rugby sevens player.

It was a cold bitter morning when whaea kerry and monika came from waitangi to help R4 finish our project we started in waitangi. We all had one partner and mine was sonny, our project was why we plant vegetables in matariki. We finished our stop motion part in waitangi all we needed to do is finish our green screen, and luckily we finished it here.

Whaea kerry and monika were just powhiri’d into our school before me and sonny started our project. Once they had finished setting up Sonny and I had to wait because Amira and Iverson were green screening they’re proposal.

In the next block after morning tea Sonny and I came inside the classroom and started green screening. We finished two recordings and started setting them up, while we were setting them up we realized we still had two more recordings to do, we had to wait because another group had directly came here after us.

Once the next group finished we got to complete our last two scenes which were the ones were we feast, and our bloopers.
Then we finished and added a title and our credits and that's the end of Sonny and Piripi’s Raranga Matahiko trip.

Elements of a story

Walt Structure a recount

31/07/18
SC i know how to structure my story
I know how to write about a past event
Purpose: Retell a series of events

It was a hot sunny thursday afternoon when I went to the bro jacob
and jared’s house for a swim in there creek. We had our first step
in the mud by the shallow part and sank straight down to the deep
rock hard bottom, and from then on we named it the monstrous nes
quick sand looking mud. So I took off my T-Shirt, and  manu’d in
the deep part by the rocks. Then the bros did to.

About half an hour later we got out and set the hinaki in the
monsterous nes quick sand looking mud that will pull you under
like an undertow in the sea. We were petrified at first to enter the
monstrous nes quick sand looking mud because we might sink
again, so we seeked to find a ginormous wood plank.

As we started investigating we split up, jacob went north, jared
went east and i went south, as i went south i discovered a colossal
wood plank that would fit over the monstrous nes quick sand
looking mud. Once i told the bros we worked as a team to place it,
then all three of us stood in the middle of the wood plank to set
the hinaki, we used a lean meager bit of rope and attached it to
the hinaki, after that we used a thick chunky stick to push the
hinaki down to the bottom and we left it for the next day to check.

Our Marae Noho

  Marae Noho

28-06-18
WALT: Write a recount that informs and entertains your reader

Day One

It was a cold drizzly thursday morning when rooms 3, 4 and 5 were powhiri’d in to kohewhata marae to learn about matariki, we got welcomed in by whaea Mary with BARE FEET standing in glacial cold puddles, and our kaumatua was papa vikkitoria.

Straight after our powhiri we went and had a feed and got straight into our groups to learn about matariki, then our year eight’s had to cook our dinner. As we carried on with our day, my group got into our activity which was to find a maori design in the marae. We had to use clay and smash it on a design for about 5 seconds then we would pull it off and the design should be there.

After that we went into make our koauau, then we weaved a headband and finally! we did some tokutoku panel weaving. My favourite activity was weaving the head bands because we got to decorate them with these plastic diamond things which i stuck 5 of them on my face to try and look funny.

Next we had our lunch, then dinner which was the best because we had shepherd's pie, the best cabbage in the world, it was perfectly cooked, had garlic and butter in it which would make you melt, and last but not least, PUDDING, this wasn’t just any odd  pudding, this was THE pudding. It was a tenderly cooked raspberry pie with custard and ice - cream to finish your day. After that i was full and really wanted to have a shower, then go to bed, but it was way too early, it was about 6 o'clock i think.

Although everyone was full, could barely walk and run, we HAD TO DO kapa haka, which was the worst thing to do at this time. So anyways as we finished kapa haka i thought  we might’ve been going to bed going, But No we had to watch this video about the stars and galaxies.

Then finally the best thing ever happened which was we got to have a shower OMG, That was my favorite thing of that whole day i think, because after that we got to go to bed.

.Kia Ora my name is Piripi and this is my speech.

Drugs & Alcohol Should Be Banned

Hi im Piripi and today I will be talking to you about why drugs and alcohol should be banned.

Firstly I think that drugs and alcohol should be banned. Why I say? Because many people take drugs or drink alcohol and that can really impact families. How? well Having an alcohol and drug addiction canchange a person’s behavior in ways that make them unrecognizable to their family, and that can place extra burden on those forced to make up for their loved one’s mistakes and neglect.

secondly, is families can save more money to spend on their children. How? Drugs and alcohol are
expensive, especially when you’re using a lot and constantly. Substance abuse also impacts your
productivity and success at work and in school. using and recuperating from drugs can be better spent learning new skills to advance your career.

thirdly, what happens to you if you are overdosing on drugs and alcohol. Well most people think that
taking drugs or alcohol don’t harm you or do much to you at all, but really this is what happens. taking drugs and alcohol you’re more likely to experience physical injury or be involved in car accidents. Even worse, you also have an increased risk of death through both suicide and homicide, and no one wants that do they.

My fourth reason is the risks of death taking drugs. Having a drug addiction is a serious disease.
Millions of lives have been lost due to drug use. So don’t become another one. If you have been
battling drug addiction, find the courage to get help. Treatment can help you get on the path to drug-free living, no matter how severe your addiction is.

and finally my last reason is the percentages in NZ. Alcohol and other drugs have been used by
human beings throughout history, and New Zealanders are no different. 44% of adult New Zealanders will try an illicit drug at some point, and 93% will try alcohol. Thank you for listning to my speech

The good version
At the start of school Dora was afraid of her new teacher, Mrs. Davis seemed nice, but she had so many rules for the class to follow, scaring someone to pieces. As the school year continued, Dora began to understand how the teacher came up with the rules, the rules were there so students would be respectful of themselves and each other. By the end of the year, Dora thought Mrs. Davis was the best teacher she ever had!

PAKANGA

WALT: To write a detailed account of a sport or sports event
we have been a part of this week.

On wednesday 30 year 5,6,7 and 8 students from Tautoro
including me attended at a pakanga tournament.
We had two teams, team one and team two.
The first game we had we versed bay of islands and lost 3 - 2.
There was a boy in there team and he looked like he was 16
because of how tall he was, But the only reason we lost was
because we were all a bit shy i think and we weren't putting
much effort into it. Then the next game we won with 6 girls in our team and waikare still couldn’t score and we won 20 - 0 which was mean as, it was also waikare’s first time ever coming to kaikohekohe games. After that we made it into the finals and we didn't think we would, So we versed intermediate and beat them 9 - 3 and we played our hardest in the rain, which was mean as. My favorite game was our last one because we played our hardest and we were in the rain, and it was unquestionably fun because everyone was slipping over getting tackled and doing stupid plays like john done, but intermediate acquired some of the best rippers because they were slaughtering us even when we washing machined sometimes. After that we had prize giving and intermediate came 4th we came 3rd, bay of islands came 2nd and like always kura kaupapa came first in first division and i can’t remember all the other awards. Then we came back to school and watched this funny as movie named central intelligence, but we only got to watch a amusing insufficient snippet of it then we had to go home. Uncle fred

WALT Correct punctuation

Smoke came out thick and white of my uncles car as he was driving down our driveway “what's wrong with your car uncle fred i said” he came out with “its just old like me”.

And its tired i shrugged and walked away he always says that the engine has overcooked.

My uncle fred is quite old, and when ever i see him he always wears grey track pants and a grey knitted jersey which stinks of the strong smelling after shave he wears, you can smell it from miles away.

Whenever i see him he is always fixing his hair when the smoke comes out of his car. It is always thick and white and i know to expect a visit from uncle fred.

In the weekend my whole church went to a wananga at Kohewhata marae to cook for all the people there.

It was fun because all the children cooking got some chocolate, and at night we played spotlight which was amusing because we just hid in the ditch on the side of the road. After that we started playing sting ball and it got serious so some kids got into a fight.

Then the next day 2nd ward had to cook but there wasn't enough of them so 1st ward helped them cook, and the children got some more chocolate. Some people went diving for kina’s and we cooked some chicken soup, lasagna and 3 cakes. Well only one cake the other two were brought from a shop somewhere.

It was really fun cooking at kohewhata marae and i hope i can sometime do it again.

What does being a good friend mean?

What Being a good friend means ?

What does being a good friend mean ? We don't really know what
being a good friend means but here are some ideas. Well being a
good friend means that you are not an enemy to anyone and you
will support them all the time.

We can be good friends and we can be bad friends at times.
Good friends are the people that help you when your stuck and show
you around when your new. It is good to be a great friend to other
people because it means that your they’re friend and you are
filling they’re bucket. You should always invite people to come play with you when they look sad and lonely.

Also you should always stay positive to everyone, well at least try to
because you will make people feel welcome and free to do what
they want.
